July 2017
On Tuesday, June 20th the Boston Chapter of the NAACP, the Vulcans, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice and MAMLEO held a community forum on police and fire diversity. I would like to thank the entire team for their tireless work in making this forum a success. We want to thank the elected officials as well as the 7th District Candidates that took time from the busy schedules to attend.
We are putting forth an after action plan:
We are looking at all options and any suggestions greatly appreciated.
MAMLEO sent out correspondence to the membership in regards to the video, asking for guidance and direction as to how you wanted this situation handled. The response that we received was termination. While I do not believe the Department will terminate these officers, I do believe the culture and policies of the Department must change.

We are putting forth an after action plan:
- that calls for citizens to call on the Mayor (617) 635-4500 or 311 to put pressure for resolution to diversify the BFD, BPD in hiring and promotions.
- To obtain and preserve exit interviews from BPD/BFD retirees.
- Propose an all out HIRING freeze for BPD/BFD until diversity modules are in place and operational.
- Hire testing experts to determine Exam Viability. Does the exam itself discriminate.
We are looking at all options and any suggestions greatly appreciated.
